Photographing the Human Spirit

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-12618167

Watch the video linked above.  Think about why these images are so amazing.  It's not just the subject matter, but the way they are shot.  Look at angles, lines, etc.

Write a three sentence reaction to the video.  What does his work say about photography?  What can photography say about the world?  How does the video inspire you?

What can you shoot in the world around you that has the same effect as the work seen in the video?

  3. Those were some pretty good shots. That guy told some stories with his photos as well. That guy was in a raging river and the photographer didn't even help!

  4. He took some amazing photos. The pictures give off different moods, some sad, some scared, etc. They show so much of the world that not many people get to see. These pictures portray this part of the world in a way that not many would see in their own eyes.

  6. It seems that the photographer was in the right place at the right time with a camera. The timing of these photos is next to perfect. Mainly they were of native tribes of foreign countries and I'm not sure if I can compare because we don't have anything like that here. An Indian reservation maybe?

  7. The over-all feeling of the video is one of inspiration. The scenes and moments that were captured in many of the photos were almost one of a kind. I hope many others are inspired by this and either go and take pictures like this or go to these places to visit or help where it's needed.

  8. He went to such great lengths to capture such fantastic moments of the "human spirit." These photos help people see real lives of real people and shows it in such a way that makes the people who see the photos really feel something. It inspires me to make photography that makes people feel something.
